Chapter 2 asks a great question. Do You Qualify? This chapter reiterates the difference between how God qualifies a person compared to man's. This point is made in I Corinthians 1:26-27.
Yes, God doesn't choose the way man does. He looks on the heart. God's saw David's heart. That's what made him standout above the rest.
Readers are reminded that God sees our hearts too, and He's qualified us. Hallelujah!.

What a great book. My husband and I ended it with a greater understanding of King David than when we began.
David was not perfect, yet a man after God's own heart. God's grace and mercy is evident throughout this book We can learn from the mistakes of others and become men and women of God's heart too. Hallelujah

Chapter 15 - Follow God's Order - King David desired to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. And he chose to do so his way which resulted in the sudden death of Uzzah by the hand of God.

Chapter 14 A Purpose Bigger than Yourself reminds readers why God took notice of David. Perhaps it was because David was not self-centered. Not a good trail to have when we intend to please God.
David knew his purpose of being King. To serve God and the people of Israel. He had to deny self, and that's not always easy.
King David had to examine himself. We must do the same, to fulfill God's purpose for us.

Chapter 13 - A Snare reminds readers that accepting responsibility is the greatest sign of repentance. We see this in King David and in the story of the prodigal son.
And why King Saul and Absalom were man pleasers, and King David a God pleaser, which resulted in him have greater success.

Chapter 12 "It's My Fault" - Readers see the truth about King Saul. He claimed he obeyed God but didn't fully,. He blamed others for his actions. Absalom felt justified and blamed others for the sins he committed.
King David disobeyed God too, but didn't blame others. Psalm 51 confirms this. Yes; he accepted responsibility for his wrong doings. And God saw his heart.
We can do the same; God sees our hearts too.

Chapter 11 - Actions and the Heart proved to be an interesting read, where the focus is on King Saul, King David and later King Absalom. All very different kings. David was the King with the most amount of scripture devoted to him, and whom God considered a man after His own heart.
The three kings were not perfect, they all committed sin. David however is remorseful and strives to do better. God saw his heart!.
