Just read the part where people are entering the Gard’s Council Hall to hear Annabelle and Kieran’s testimonies, and Livvy tells Kit about the legend that every time the golden clock chimes the hour, the gates to Heaven open for a second. Which really fucking hurts when you consider what happens at the end of the book. And how the clock chimes right after. I’d forgotten that line. Now I keep thinking about it.

At home this week. Started reading again yesterday (Tue 15/10/24).
The conversations Livvy has with Kit about Ty show what she suspects (and make me want to cry). Julian’s yearning to just be with Emma peacefully forever like how they are in Polperro but with their family nearby is heart wrenching, especially when you consider Emma is having similar thoughts but they both think they’re alone in feeling that way.
