i'm begging pynchon to stop introducing new characters there's like 50 at this point and i'm getting scared

started out hating this but after reading it for many hours straight i'm kind of obsessed. i still can't get over early on in the book, about amethyst:

"Bright-eyed and ready to rock 'n' roll, she bore little resemblance to the junkie baby in the Polaroids. Whatever dismal fate had been waiting to jump her must've had a short attention span and turned aside and gone after somebody else."
