The “sexism” in this book feels very forced. It seems unrealistic some of the ways the men in this book treat the women. I understand the author wants to create strong women characters and possibly have a commentary about #metoo but it just seems shrill and whiny.

The romance that was introduced in this book is confusing to me. The book takes pains to color every man as an aggressor or a threat to women. Yet the main female protagonist has no issues with hooking up with the other male lead. I feel like this book can’t figure out what kind of feminist narrative to have. Do I want a victim mentality, or am I a strong woman who don’t need no man? It’s inconsistent.
