Yeah, I'm only skimming the rest of this snoozefest.

This book is so...dumb. I highly doubt a movie star in the 1940s Hollywood studio system would have to go to his neighbor to get a referral to a fencing instructor to train him for a movie role.

"Exotic animals roamed free -- mostly dogs and all without restraints."

Umm...does the author think dogs are exotic....?

Methinks this author hates women. ALL of the women characters are unnecessarily hostile towards each other. It's not a good look.

We got ourselves a Not Like Other Girls main character. She's met 3 other women characters so far and hates them all for no reason.

I don't know if I'd trust a private investigator WHO CAN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MALE AND FEMALE CATS. But that's just me...
