so one of the doctors at my job and i got to talking & both realized we liked to read ! they told me they were going to bring me a book they think i'd like & they were not kidding !! 2 weeks in & now they're trusting me w/ a book :,)
anyways excited for this adventure i don't typically read collections of short stories that aren't from a series i'm already invested in but i'm branching out of my comfort zone!

i feel like for most of these short stories, the length of it doesn't really attribute to much, it's simply the length of the story. with this one, the way it was only 11 pages, and then the way the text flips to backwards at the end to signal the contraction of time was chilling. the fact that something so drastic in our universe can happen so fast and we are incapable of stopping it is chilling.

this one was actually so crazy bc it truly does mirror how corporate greed can truly ruin something once their hands are on it. lack of attention to detail, the ego of a boss who isn't on the ground ever day like everyday worker, dreaming away instead of being practical. theorizing instead of educating. i mean the mines weren't doing well... but at least they weren't blown up & uninhabitable before Liu Xin showed up!

these short stories are getting a little too real because this sci fi 9 page short story should not have me overthinking to the point where i'm like "should i withdraw half my life savings from an atm incase the IT republic freezes all the banks finances and i lose all my money to the void?" ... or... maybe that's the point of literature ?

reading the short story about time migration and the philosophy behind "you don't know what you have until it's gone" and how humanity tried to escape their regular timeline only to land in multiple war ridden, technology infested generations only to be brought back to the environment they had before while my besties read smut out loud in the corner just goes to show the versatility in women !!!
