I love this so much. Linda was the first proper older (31, which to teenage me was ancient) female protagonist that is now a spinster because she was waiting for the sparks, the big love, that never quite appeared. Now she lusts after her hot boss, John, is not taken seriously by all the men around her, and tries to find her happily ever after while WW2 is happening.

I read this as a teen and really enjoyed it. What happens when Cinderella gets the prince but finds him full of high ideals and charm, but completely hollow otherwise? Also, there are Nazis and a heroine who's a German Jew going in to spy on a Nazi soldier? Hope this lives up to the re-read.
