The body of Christ builds itself (Eph 4). Let that sink in for a moment. Jesus is the Christ, both head and body (1 Cor 12:12). He's what Augustine called the totus Christus, the whole Christ. He doesn't perfect His own body--His own whole self-- directly. We're the hands and tools by which He builds His body. We fill up the fullness of Christ. By the power of the Holy Spirit, in Christ, we make the ark that we are.
