‘throwbacks to domesticity’

this book often makes me stop to ponder. in what ways are past norms affecting societal function? my interpersonal relationships? my individual choices? and where are we trying to go? what do we do with all of this? who am i trying to be?

reading this while elon is performing a digital coup on the us government is intense. this could happen anytime.
i just finished the part where Compubank takes all the banks’ money, then they cut off women’s access and force them to leave their jobs so they rely on men. this book is so good because it’s so painfully possible and relatable

‘The tulips are not tulips of blood, the red smiles are not flowers, neither thing makes a comment on the other’.

33 pages in and Atwood has me astound. Her wording is so powerful I feel like I can sense her through the pages
