Having now read nature and the American scholar, Emerson fucking knows what's up. I mean I don't agree with him completely but he's got style and he's got vigor! I'm going to read a bunch of shit from 1800s America this year because there used to be a concept of American character which was not at all like whatever the fuck is happening today lol
