Fascinating account by author’s friend about her own experience relating to the topic of phone sex. Makes me think about (spoiler alert) the myriad ways in which people cope with not only life’s challenges, but death, of both relationships and the physical body.

Wondering if author imagined this narrative thread of being “saved” by his move to Bed-Stuy as it happened or only afterwards, as a sort of postscript, or reimagined history, seeing his life anew as he tried to draft a compelling narrative.

Figured out I’m 21% thru audio. Have lost the thread of connection between first chapter and second, which is unnerving but will hopefully become clear.

Estimating my place since I’m listening to audio. . . The ballooning tradition sounds delightfully boozy and fun to observe. Not sure I’d enjoy being surprised by it tho. 😬
