Oh my god. Barely in and already so far I've been bored almost to tears by overly-flowery prose and vague scene building, and amused almost to tears by truly corny interactions. Literally... when Alek hears his father has died, he falls to the ground, clutching his chest. While I'm not one to judge someone for their grief, after so much ridiculous "wrist to forehead"-style writing, I can't possibly take it seriously.
