Let's get an easy one going. Some breezy sailing from one of the Hollywood masters. The number of great films this man made is humbling. I also have McBride's book on John Ford. Dude was in the thick of it with Bogdanovich and the others hobnobbing with the old school icons.

Hawks called Frances Farmer the best actress he ever worked with. We also get great reminiscences of making The Big Sleep with Bogart and Bacall, the best movie ever made where the plot does not matter. More recollections of being with Hemingway. Choice.

Hawks tells us that nobody else came close to Cary Grant as a comedy actor. Spot on.

Hawks goes hunting with William Faulkner and Clark Gable. Gable never read a book and Faulkner never saw a film. So they were a perfect match. haha. Hawks is a master storyteller. This is a blast and a masterclass. Loving this.

Hawks' method of writing dialogue with legends like Faulkner and Hemingway and the rest, brilliant. What a fucking guy! Love him!
