Enjoyed Witch Shall be Born more I expected, considering this is one of the less received short story he has written. In a modern setting, I could see this story of a witch being more of a tragedy than what we got. That said the plight of the people were well communicated and Conan nailed to a cross is iconic as hell.

The People of the Black Circles - I sometimes just wish the plots of Conan stories can be less repetitive. Like classics as Tower of the Elephant. That said, Howard still a damn good writer and takes advantage of his skills in this novella format. I was really burnt out previously so it’s nice being back.

Definitely better than the other short, a simple one, definitely not the highest of highs but still some fun to have in rogues in the house.

The Pool of the Black One - I did not like this one

the title alone gave me pause and yeah it's what I expected. Usually, Howard's racism is in the background, but rarely at the forefront of the narrative. You just often hear about his love for white skin. However this one... yeah really bad. It was hard to enjoy this one compared to the others.

The Slithering Shadow was quite good!

Wasn’t huge on the black colossus short story. I really like sub chapter 2-3 but the rest I kinda lost interest near the end. It could be a me problem, but sometimes I find Howard action when it comes to group action hard to read or just simply less interesting compared to 1 v 1 or multiple people against Conan. Hmmm not sure, tower of elephant was definitely better though!

The Tower of the Elephant was peak, mainly the ending which was just amazing.
