After a weak start, I'm warming to Gibbs a bit. He's erudite and thoughtful without being highly intellectual. His musings seem small but his concerns bigger. It's ephemera but some of it has immediacy, especially the war stuff.

I thought the Navajo code-talkers would have been a military secret for obvious reasons, but here is Gibbs writing about it right in the open in The New Yorker in 1941.
