From the first 90 pages of the autobiography (which included a description of his ancestors), what I understood is:
1. Those who studied English at the beginning of the 20th century never had to look back.
2. The law profession then was like today’s engineering and BBA.
3. Marriage, a century ago, was entirely a matter of social status.
4. The disconnect of educated society from rural areas.
