Weakest chapter so far. It broadly makes an interesting point, but I’m wary of any psychology/anthropology talking about “alpha males” and at its worst the framing of this topic borders on “when they go low we go high”. Yes this is about social media but I think some “real world” consequences are also ignored ie post-backlash gofundme’s.

Haven’t finished this chapter but feels flawed to say “Sinhalese people were brought together by this”, argue it wasn’t the same in Germany/US, then bring up Charlottesville like that wasn’t almost entirely white men? Also don’t get why he randomly insults people eg “a pipe cleaner in glasses and v-necks”
