“Not only was the Occupy movement responsible for a shift in public discourse to the problem of class and inequality in the USA, it also operated as a platform for the failed presidential leadership bid of Bernie Sanders in the USA and Jeremy Corbyn’s bid to become prime minister of the UK.”

Sounds like an impressive achievement!

Katia N Exactly:-) I think I am going to give up on this intro. So sloppy:-(. And everyone is anarchist from Tolstoy to zapatistas and friends Ed Snowdown… It is a shame, especially as Joll’s book was excellent and got me interested. I will Probably read Graeber and Scott after a bit of a break. Also both Proudhon and Bakunin sound very interesting colourful characters to know more about.

A piry, often this series is a good value in money and time introduction...I guess they can't all be winners and maybe anarchism is peculiarly defuse and complex? I mean you have Mondragon and the guy who murderer the Empress Elizabeth of Austro-hungary and they are all anarchist?

Katia N Agree on both grounds. I normally like this series for the topics i know nothing or want a concise summary of the scope. But this is just a waffle. I do not think anarchism is so complex. It is just a kind of broad church, but also as far as understand there is an incoherence in the ideology between how to get to the ideal, means, assumptions on human nature etc. I wanted an update why it is kind of getting back to popularity on both left and right. There is a radical left perspective attempted to be taken here. But the statements that NHS is scale up anarchist idea and Bismark stolen social welfare reform from the anarchists requires some proof I would think. At least he did not claim Jesus for the cause:-) And all the so called “propaganda by deeds” you’ve mentioned not discussed at all. I’ve abandoned this book yesterday. Twitter feeds are even better:-)
