After Eli calls police & they show up, question & clear him, he goes to his professors office to get his thesis stuff. He never told Victor but he had been working on how to track down EOs w the professor, once he started studying how to create them, the professor took a strong interest in it as well.
After stealing all the paperwork & the professors computer hard drive, Eli runs into him on the way out…tells him that he’s done w his thesis, that EOs are an abomination & shouldn’t be created. The prof notices he’s holding his bag real tight..says he’s not done w the research & tries fighting the bag off of Eli. Prof elbows Eli in the lip, making him bleed..when he sees Eli heal he immediately knows he’s done it- Eli pushes him down the steps, walks down & snaps his neck!
Afterward he feels calm & peaceful. Later in the week he even runs over a janitor who saw him in the building that day, doesn’t feel bad abt it even tho he wasn’t an EO, feels peaceful after that too.

Eli thinks that when EOs have their near death experience, they trade their soul to keep living. He thinks that when he died & asked god to save him, Angie ended up dying & acted as a sacrifice for him so he didn’t need to trade his soul- he paid w his friends. Now it’s his duty to get rid of the rest of the EOs cause they’re unnatural, a sin he doesn’t want people to keep committing. He has himself convinced everyone else is wrong but not him, he’s the only EO that doesn’t go against god & nature. - this dude is so self righteous & pretentious
He views himself as a shield from the rest of the EOs- to protect humanity. After he graduates, he finds his new purpose in tracking down & killing other EOs.
To detach from what he’s doing Eli calls his killings “removals”. He doesn’t consider his victims human cause they’ve already died once. He doesn’t like the act of killing itself so much as he likes the moment after, he finds peace in his regeneration & takes it as confirmation from god that he’s doing the right thing.

Present- Eli & Victor are staying at the same hotel & they don’t realize it. Eli runs into Mitch in the lobby, thinks he’s suss cause of how big & tattooed he is, thinks he looks outta place in there…

Last fall-
Eli was tracking & watching Serena at college for 2 weeks before he finally met her at a party, w chloroform in his pocket! She approached him, seduced him, bringing him into a room alone where she willed the truth out of him. He admits that he’s been following her to kill her cause she goes against nature- she agrees w him but says he can try again tomorrow lol they make out a bunch, Serena not scarred of him at all.

Serena liked her gift at first, she felt like a god, constantly getting what she wanted. But eventually she grew bored, no one challenged her, everything was too easy. Even when she didn’t want to use it- when she was simply asking people things- they’d be forced to comply. She got upset at a boyfriend once when he wouldn’t go against her in an argument, told him to jump off a bridge & he did…that’s when she realized she was a monster.

The next day Eli finds a card w her number & a place to meet on it lol she’s not afraid of him at all, just curious. After they meet again Eli realizes she reminds him of Angie, makes him feel the same way. He’s very attracted & drawn to her, he challenges her & tries evading her questioning & she finds that relieving.
Serena & Eli eventually hook up, he sleeps there for the night, lowkey falling for her. The next day he wakes up & she’s gone, she returns w 2 cops- the cops that update the database Mitch hacked into- Dane & Stell.
Sydney compels them to believe Eli is a hero & that he’s helping them, gives them access to the database.

Present-
Mitch tracks down Dane, kidnaps him, has him tied up in an under construction building across from the hotel. Victor tortures the truth out of him, learns that it’s Serena who set up the deal w cops, starts catching on to her ability.
He shoots Dane after, tells Mitch to go get Sydney, she brings him back & they learn Serena’s compulsion withstands death.
At the same time, back at the hotel, Serena makes Eli call detective Stell, she wants to involve police by this point. Eli is getting annoyed by her, he liked doing things alone, doesn’t like being bossed around by Serena. After he calls Stell, he tries calling Dane but Victor answers…says he’ll see him at midnight.
W Stell involved, the get the whole police force involved. Everyone is on the look out for Mitch, Syd & Victor.

Mitch stays behind to clean up the body.
We learn more abt him- his mom died when he was young, no dad, pretty much homeless & couch surfing. He was always a big, intimidating guy, very smart but people assumed he was stupid cause of his size & he has a bunch of tattoos. He’s cursed apparently- always at the wrong place, wrong time.

He was sent to prison the first time 4 years for a murder he didn’t commit. When he got out, he got a shitty job & apartment, someone was beaten to death a few blocks away & even tho he had witnessed & an alibi- they still pinned it on him. After getting out the 2nd time, Mitch decided he’ll make it worth it since he’ll get arrested again anyways - robs a bank, ends up meeting Victor in prison.
The curse followed Mitch to prison, all his cell mates would die, people would die from all sorts of things around him. When Victor got assigned his room, Mitch figured he wouldn’t last long but was still determined to watch over him & make sure nothing happened to him- hoping protecting someone would break the curse.

Present-
Sydney convinces Victor to try recruiting other EOs to help fight against Serena & Eli. Victor comes up w a plan, tells syd to burn all the evidence of the stuff they’ve been doing if he doesn’t come back by a certain time. He also has a listing he wants her to post in the police database w his name & the place he wants Eli to meet him- the construction site. Outside he tells Mitch they’re not going back tonight…
Meanwhile Eli is tracking down & killing more EOs, very eager for midnight to come so he can be rid of Victor & leave town, leave Serena behind too.
He tracks down a man who had all of his bones crushed…poor guy has a fake eyeball, very visibly was involved in an accident, seems like he has a very painful existence…Eli’s stalking him now at a bar, in no hurry to kill him in hopes Victor will show up looking for him…
He watches him for hours before Mitch shows up, says something to the guy & walks away. After walking past the guy- he’s gone, vanishes. Victor & Mitch know that the guys ability is to teleport, Eli doesn’t. He’s sus of Mitch when he sees him too, remembers seeing him in the hotel, follows him into the bathroom.

The guy, Dominic, teleports outside to where Victor is waiting. He gives Dominic a few options- he can go back in & Eli will kill him, go home & eventually be tracked down, or he says he can stay w him & he’ll take his pain away. He shows him his powers, once Dominic feels the relief he’s willing to do whatever he needs. Victor tells him just 1 hard night & then a lifetime of the pain being gone…

In the bathroom, Eli locks him & Mitch in there…demands to know what he told Dominic & where Victor is- even hits him w the gun…Mitch just smiles & says it’s almost midnight he’ll see Victor soon…Eli shoots him in the chest🥺

Outside, after Victor takes the pain away, Dominic explains his powers- says when he teleports he goes into a shadow realm where time freezes & he can go wherever he wants. He has to walk there in the shadow realm so it takes him awhile to get places there but once he steps out, it’s as if he vanished & reappeared.
He explains that he was crushed in a mining accident, then in a coma but he felt all of the pain, the pain never stopped. The only escape he could find after waking up from his coma was the shadow realm, he goes there to slip away from the it all 🥺

Victor is getting worried cause he didn’t know Eli was in there…He tells Dominic to try transporting them both in & it works as long as he’s touching him.
He sees Eli making his way out of the bar, it takes all of his self control not to let go of Dominic & kill everyone in there just to get to Eli…but he doesn’t. They find Mitch in the bathroom- he has a bulletproof vest so he’s fine - thank god, love him

Sydney is burning the papers in her hotel room w the balcony door open, Serena is on her balcony too, a few floors up, sees her when she comes out. Serena goes to her room & compels her to open the door. They go outside w the dog, Serena almost kills her before realizing that Eli could be wrong, this version of Sydney seem a lot stronger, a more confident version of who she was, Serena changes her mind, gives Sydney her gun & tells her to go somewhere safe.
At midnight it’s Sydney’s 13th bday, poor kid.
The only place Sydney has felt safe as of recently is w Victor…so she decides to go to the construction site they all plan on fighting in tonight! :( she brings the dog too!

Dominic & Victor drop Mitch off at the site, he hides outside off to the side.
Serena just got there too, gets a call from officer Stell- Eli told the cops to clean up an EO he killed at the bar, mitch, but there’s no body there. Serena says she’ll take care of it, tells the police to come there but stay outside the fence.
She spots Mitch hiding…goes over to him & makes him shoot himself in the head. Mitch is heartbroken by it too cause she looks just like Sydney 🥺 The guns empty tho! Dominic teleport him & Vic right up to Serena as she’s realizing…Victor slits her throat immediately, tells Mitch to burn her body cause he doesn’t want Sydney finding her & bringing her back…
Then they hear gunshots go off inside…Syndey ran into Eli up there looking for Victor…Dominic teleports Victor up there, pulls her into the shadows while letting Victor out- after Eli has already shot the dog & was about to shoot Sydney 🥺
Dominic takes her outside but she demands he go back for the dog, she’s not sure if she compelled him- she was trying. He brings her the dogs & it’s difficult but she brings him back 🥹
Mitch is burning Serena’s body…the cops starts showing up, he dips & runs into Dominic & syndey- dom teleports them all out of there- Mitch worried abt Victor.

Now that he finally has Eli, Victor shoots him the same way Eli did to him 10 years ago. Tortures him & enjoys the long awaited revenge. Victor doesn’t rlly use his powers on Eli, instead he stabs & shoots him a bunch, lets him regenerate & fight back. Both completely convinced they’re gonna win…Eli manages to get wire wrapped around Victor’s hands, pulls until they’re bloody & he has the upper hand…grabs a knife & stabs Victor in the ribs
Dominic is getting everyone away from the site when all of their pain comes back- Victor has been dialing it down for them all- Dominic’s everything lol, Sydney’s arm, Mitch’s injuries…in that moment they know Victors dead…
After killing Victor, Eli waits for his moment of peace, of clarity he usually gets- his delusauinal confirmation from god that he’s doing the right thing- but it never comes.
The police come tho, now that the compulsion from Serena is broken, they all see him for what he is. They arrest him as he pleads for Serena to come tell them all he’s a hero…telling them they need to burn Victor’s body, that he saved them all, that he’s a hero…

2 days later-
Eli is locked up, awaiting trial for Serena & Victor’s death. The world views him as a madman, no one knows he’s an EO but Syndey plans to leak that info, wishes the worst for him. She wants to know why he killed Serena…
They have a funeral for Victor, that night Syndey, Mitch, Dol & Dominic go out to dig him up. Syndey brings him back.
