The author has made up a circus scenario in which The Queen has granted Lizzy the favor of erasing her Duke-husband’s name and change it to Gardiner for Lizzy & her unborn child, yet she gets to keep titles and wealth, as pregnant Lizzy makes statements about her husband’s line needing to be put down or ended off — I’m mindblown…

The use of titles and styles is atrocious!
Lady Lucas is UNTITLED, her husband is barely a knight, that’s an honour, not a Peerage, and for the wife of a knight, being called a Lady is a style of address, not a title
If Duke holds several titles, a subsidiary title goes to the heir apparent as a COURTESY TITLE, not subsidiary, the 2nd title is still the Duke’s
