I have no interest in a 500+ page contemporary romance. I think the reason I love the category or Harelquins is how quick they are. Maybe it's a sign I'm aging, but romance characters get whiny and annoying if the book is long.

THIS. I don’t get why 500+ page CR is a thing. If it’s not a romance where you need to build a world with different rules (fantasy, scifi, dystopian, or even historical) there’s NO excuse for 500 pages of whining how sucky their life is & poor me this, poor me that.

Yeah new Ana huang release is 530 pages. I think she’s a good author but no way I’m reading that much for glorified Presents.
Nope, not reading a 500 page CR. It's somewhat repetitive and they stretch things out way too long. Give me a harlequin presents please, I am old I guess.
530 pages?! Hell no! That’s epic fantasy length. Ain’t no way your CR needs that many words. I can only read modern CR if it’s HP length, but so many new CRs are glorified HPs anyway…which is funny, given how people still make fun of HPs as trash. “This was so stupid, it read just like a Mills&Boon!” …Well, duh. It’s a grumpy billionaire brooding about his difficult life & wooing his virginal PA. That *is* 90% of HP, lolol.

Ana Huang's books are all moody Billionaires dealing with difficult feelings and shitty parents until a woman comes along and blah blah blah. Harlequin should sue lol.
