Finished The Part About the Crimes. Probably my least favorite part so far, though it was by no means bad or even mediocre. The jumping around in perspective and repetition of detailed descriptions of femicide just kinda slowed the insanely fast momentum that had been built by the previous section, and some of the sub plots here I just wasn’t as into as others. Still great tho and im saddened im reaching the end

reading The Part About Fate rn. It is interesting reading Bolaño write specific to the Black american experience in this section. There's nothing offensive or wrong in my eyes, but after years of reading Latin American authors, it's jarring to read one have interest in that culture. Usually, to any non-USian, an "American" is a gringo, a rich or hick white guy. They rarely interrogate the cultures on the periphery
