In modern SFF, you can’t have a warrior or pirate who kills and rapes and pillages without a thought, no one would accept that. So you end up with anachronistic and/or absurd characters and situations like this one. Because if the pirates take bribes to not attack or even protect trading ships- what about the smaller, poorer operators who can’t afford to pay?

The whole ethical pirates thing is… something. I mean, I get why the author wrote it that way. I tried to create an ethical noble (he ended up having to renounce all his status and possessions and run off to be an anarchist by himself).

I can tell this is my kind of book, cause even though it’s about space pirates, it’s actually just about the interactions between the two leads XD That’s exactly how I write too.
