Right from the jump, the plight of our MC reads like 1990 repressed women's lib fan fiction, and lo and behold, it's because it is. Written in 2005, it's hitting all of the tropes of the "woman who gave up her life to be a wife." It's not my favorite story, but I'm willilng to wait this one out.
