okay i've decided i do not care for the footnotes from cate. it feels too try-hard, part of the fun of reading a multiple perspective book is getting to decide whose point of view(s) you agree with, who is unreliable, which perspectives conflict, draw comparisons, and decipher how the characters interact with each other and the difference in their interpretations of a moment. the footnotes take away the imagination.
