Payton who is friends with Cheyenne and Ember from previous books. She was attacked and severely beaten a few years ago and is afraid of most men. Max has wanted Payton since he met her but is not pushing it as he sees there is something not right with her reactions. Then when he is deployed on short notice she decides it's time to sleep with him as she is crazy about him and what if he doesn't come back?
