My tentative ranking of Jane Austen novels now that I've read them all at least twice:

1. Pride & Prejudice
2. Persuasion
3. Sense and Sensibility
4. Northanger Abbey
5. Emma
6. Mansfield Park

Christina O. I agree with you, except I would switch Emma and Northanger.

Preethi I totally get that. I've had a real fun hate to love journey with Northanger. I'm hoping that with my next re-read, it'll even beat S&S but I guess we'll have to see :D

Christina O. I love the descriptions of Bath and the defense of the novel in NA. I hate the Thorpes. I can handle NA a bit better when understanding that the less than nice characters are gaslighting Cathy and that she's interpreting it the only way she knows how--through the gothic. I also love Henry Tilney.
I enjoyed S&S more than ever when I read it earlier this year. There are so many times when the narrator or Elinor's observations are absolutely brutal and I love it.

Preethi I would be deeply concerned if anyone liked the Thorpes ahahaha. I love how Catherine has only learned about close friendships through books and stuff so when she meets Isabella she's like OMG IT'S GONNA BE LIKE IN THE FICTION but instead it's this totally false intimacy so I love how it's similar to her experience with Northanger Abbey itself, i.e. it's just her learning that there is a bit of a difference between books and reality XD

Also yes Henry and his sister are my faaaaave.

I do adore S&S as well. Honestly a flawless novel. I think I've just worked so hard to love Northanger Abbey that I'm more emotional about the latter lol.
