GRRM’s dialogue is a mesmerizing play of words. Every word spoken denotes the personality and backstory of a character, and is often used to duel an opponent just as much as a sword would. I feel it shines brightest so far in Tyrion Lannister, perhaps the character with the most personality yet. Each interaction develops him further, letting us know his sufferings and his way of coping it, through comedy and wisdom

“Can a man be brave if he’s afraid”
“That’s the only time a man can be brave”
