Poor Taran. Marek. Figure out this man's feels for you. He fought to get two people out of a burning house because you were so overwhelmed and tearful.

Because hear me out, he is the handsome rich lord who people hate but knows her identity, saves her, takes her to a convent to heal as a woman (long story), delighted he can court her ... for her to run back to Tristan and play a squire boy for him. He finds out, he is so angry and in a brief moment he shoots a rat crawling around and says he hates rats, thieves and sneaks. Aka her. Taran, be mine.
