I'm already rolling my eyes at this section about how marriage is innately better than being single, no exceptions.

So far this book has failed to address the socio-economic motivations for getting married, which seems irresponsible if the main thesis is that marriage vows should be unbreakable oaths.

Women, historically, have been incapable of fully consenting to these lifelong "oaths" due to the socio-economic conditions forcing them to marriage to survive.

But the history of how vows developed is kind of cool.
