Ref did nothing the whole damn time. And after all that yeltsin and some republic leaders sign a treaty and dissolve the USSR. Gorbachev had a good heart but when you’re trying to keep a country from going bankrupt sometimes you need smarts. He thought he was Lenin. Yeltsin was more Lenin than Gorby because at least he worked towards his goal and knew he maybe had to play dirty! Both are bumbling fools though!

A story of people over and over again being paralyzed by power, to the detriment of the USSR.

Even though I know what happens at the end obviously, it is still very engaging! Starting to read like a fiction book!

Gorbachev. A man with immense powers at his disposal most certainly never wanted to see the USSR fall. But it seems when it came time to use his immense powers to save the USSR, he was paralyzed. His idealism got the better of him.
