How have I never heard of the murder of Pat Cowan before? It's probably the most shocking part of this book, purely because no context was given.

'The designation of all black women as sexually depraved [...] had its roots in the slave system' !!!

We need to talk about how white women have more agency over their bodies in societal matters of sex and SW. White women are somewhat free to choose their 'brand', whereas black women will always first and foremost be fetishized for their race.
