Oh dw I WILL be peeping down under waves that are pretty transparent in order to see Becky’s siren tail writhing and twirling, diabolically, hideous and slimy, flapping amongst bones or curling round corpses

I have been so patient I have been so open minded I have defended this book from all of the haters but this?? ANOTHER 4-page family backstory, spanning centuries, LITTERED with footnotes because it’s full of shorthand and in-jokes that make it actually incomprehensible to anyone who isn’t fluent in the political and social vernacular of the period, and for WHAT? A charter who MAY reappear once? I’m done.
