What is the best Jane Austen book to read first? I’ve never read any of her works before and I’m looking for one that’s easiest to understand with the most engaging plot, preferably on the shorter side. Thanks!

Lillian B (Kaladin Stormblessed version) Sense and Sensibility was my favorite Jane Austen book, and I found it less confusing, so I'd say start with that!!!

Charlotte🫶 Thanks so much!!

Abby (Reader of Clean Books) I've only read Pride and Prejudice and it was really hard (it took me 2 weeks to read. I wasn't reading another book at the same time either). But I enjoyed it

Charlotte🫶 Ohh ok cool! That’s what I’m worried will happen with me lol

Kaley Kriesel Everyone here is says P&P or S&S… am I the only one who think Persuasion is literally perfect and super easy to read (after chapter 1… for some reason it starts off a little rough to read)? Like… it’s my favorite by far and definitely the shortest. Plus the main character is quite likable and easy to sympathize with. Theres so much I love abt persuasion!

Charlotte🫶 Ooh that really hooked me!!

Rebelrd_carnation I’ve only read one: pride and prejudice but it was awesome! Would totally recommend

Charlotte🫶 Thank you!!

Hannah I never finished Pride and Prejudice, but it would be good to read. Also been wanting to read Emma, too!

Charlotte🫶 Thanks for the info! Same!
