If farms raised more diverse crops we would being eating better we would ensure soil was better, since plants have distinct nutritional needs changing up crops allow the soil not to be depleted, especially seen with growing strictly corn. Fertilizing only delivers specific nutrients, which is why composting and green manure crop rotation work.

Not to mention the amount of water needed to produce the meat from non pastured free range cattle. And the amount of surplus grains being left to rot instead of being given to nations in need of food. Don't get me started on the waste being thrown out yearly by supermarkets and restaurants. And she thinks we need to gmo our foods because of sustainability?

Yes we only have so much farmable land, but most of these farms are taken up by large scale farming of corn, soybean, canola , and cotten. Much of the grains are fed to cattle, which by the way are not meant to eat grains which causes too much acid in their stomachs leading to gasto issues hence the need for antibiotics.

On page 197 she tries to claim that because of the use of BT that the rate of fusarium molds are down in BT gmo corn. But Fusarium is a mold of common in any soil and home even in your carpets and can affect millions of people worldwide. According to this website there are many molds that are present in corn too that are not being evaluated and many are found in GMO corn

She ends the chapter with the statement Calgene's transgenic tomato is a tomato. Flavor saver tomato was the first genetically modified whole food but on page 92 it cost the company $10 million in bankruptcy and ended up being bought by Monsanto because even though it was slow to rot it was too soft for travel and shipping.

But according to WHO Model List of Essential Medicines it is a second line of drugs used for the treatment of multi drug resistant tuberculosis. Why would we want to use kanamycin as a marker to identify plant cells that had picked up the new DNA antibiotic that is an important medication and if this resistance was transferred to our fo
