"I don't think we have any alternative other than remaining optimistic. Optimism is an absolute necessity"
I need to hear this from time to time. Struggling in this current world leaves you often wondering why and how can I continue doing activism when everything seems to be doomed.
I am listening to the audiobook, which is narrated by Angela herself. I love how clear she is in expressing her ideas, everything!

- I didn't know there was a petition to the UN to charge the US with genocide against black people. I am wondering what the outcome of that was.
- I found out about Hrant Dink. I'll read more about him.
- Angela Davis soo graciously draws parallels and connections between struggles all over the world. I am mesmerised!
- The more I learn, the more I understand that slavery is not a relic of the past. Far from that.

Starting my morning right, listening to Angela Davis at breakfast :))
I learned about the Palestinian Freedom Rides (inspired by the ones from the 60s, from the Civil Rights Movement).
I love how she said that supporting something (eg queer people being accepted in the army) while being critical about that (obv being against militarization) is a feminist way of thinking. Critical support.

I am in my exam period; I got a hyperfixation on listening to this audiobook instead... I love chapter 8. The transition in Angela's speech from racism and police violence to queerness, trans and non-binary people, gender and sexuality in their infinite expressions, and feminism through a multifaceted perspective was so smooth, and it helped in making the point that all these struggles are interconnected and systemic

I may be procrastinating sleeping by listening to Angela Davis' brilliant speeches :)
- I love the Black Panthers and their 10-point programme. It should be printed and featured everywhere. I should read more about them and their history.
- Terrorism is such a biased and overused, meaningless word. Only used by oppressors to justify their crimes.
I really wish to attend one of Angela's lectures or events ❤️
