I could have done without the casual ambivalence about genital mutilation and saying it should be the parents' choice. Does a pediatrician need to address the issue carefully and tactfully with parents, given how commonplace it is and how wrapped up it is in cultural practices and fathers' own insecurities? Absolutely. But failing to speak out against a barbaric practice is disgusting.
