Have been struggling with this audio, so now listening at 1.25 and it is better, male narrator talks too slow! Book is still not what I expected and kind of creepy. Kayla and her son have run to small town to hide from abusive, controlling ex boyfriend. I know he is out there searching for her so it doesn't let me relax as I know he will pop up and try to beat/kill her for running away, kinda dark for sure.

Her husband was a wonderful man that died in car accident then she got tangled up with violent abusive boyfriend, She thinks she is hidden, hopes she is, but yes, the a-hole is still using his position of power as asst D.A. and his connections in police to track her down. He grows more violent the longer he can't locate her. It gives me the creeps knowing when he does find her he will beat and probably kill her.

Not what I was expecting. I really enjoyed the Sinful, Montana series and a lot of the New Zealand books but this is pretty dark. I have not found any humor but the tense/suspense lingers in every chapter so far. Kayla is trying her best to raise her son alone.

Definitely kind of dark compared to the other Rosalind James books I've read. So far Kayla Chambers and her 9 yr old son are on the run from ex-boyfriend. After losing her husband she thought she found a good guy but after she moves in with him she finds he is a monster. He beats her up and tracks her down when she tries to leave.
