I started to read this long book a while ago and I'm blown away by the depth of history and attention to detail (I'm a sucker for good research and worlbuilding) but I think the use of old words and concepts is also frustrating me, because I want to know what they mean and that means dictionary or google use. Sorry, but the banquet scene is killing me with this.
