The meeting of TE Lawrence and Cherry is my version of an MCU crossover. I find them both so fascinating and to know they met each other is so crazy.

Oh gosh, this is full of such tragedy, even after the Antarctic expedition. Cherry’s note about Pennell following his death at Jutland is so heart breaking:

‘He will perhaps keep the Celestial Log Book, and the record of the animals sighted… And every now and then he would ask for leave to go and take some of his friends in hell out for dinner. I hope he will ask me.’

And Lillie, oh Lillie

Also this little note to Birdie and Wilson which would never be seen by them: ‘You should see my wonderful sketches! We had a very happy Xmas and the pudding was fine. Heaps of love and good luck to you all.’

Oh Cherry

Crean, Birdie, and Cherry on that fracturing ice floes with the killer whales makes me go :0 every time I read about it. Also there are so many little human, touching, humorous moments in that first year in the hut/depot laying etc. I want to read everyone’s diaries/letters to really get to know them all :’)
