Maybe by the end of this book I will change my mind, but I truly do not understand the appeal of Rochester as a character. While superbly written, I do not find any of his actions as truly romantic, unlike what you may find with other Byronic characters of the era. Instead, this book deals with the darker realities of being with a passionate man, meaning their potential violent tendencies and threats

I've never been as divided on a character as Mr Rochester. The whole time I'm like red flags everywhere?? But she's into it??? Is she even into it?? Does she like that man?? Jane blink twice if you need help
