I'm not going to be one of the people who complains why Margaret's story is juxtaposed against the romance because it does form the premise for the book after all, but why write about an American dynasty in the blandest and most whitewashed terms? This could be the story of any other successful prospector family.

I’m already severely annoyed by the MC and narration style to accompany her, but the lower-rated reviews complaining that Emily Henry misadvertises books as romance novels have somehow managed to annoy me even more, because, hello, what a non-issue, so I’m sticking with it until I really start to feel fumes come out of my ears.
