Jesus hears of John’s death and goes there at once. Multitudes follow. This is when he feeds them with just five loaves and two fishes. He sends the multitudes away whilst the disciples sail out. This is when he walks on water, to get to the boat. The disciples fear he is a spirit and in order to prove he isn’t he makes John walk on water too. John does but then begins to sink. Jesus asks him why he doubted.

Herod imprisons John the Baptist because John said unto him ‘It is not lawful for thee to have her’ referring to Herodias, Herod’s brother’s wife. Herod does not execute him though because he fears the multitudes who regard him a prophet. But on Herod’s birthday, Herodias’ daughter dances for him and he promises to grant her whatever she wants. She says, on the instruction of her mother, John’s head.
