The Transition of Juan Romero: 4/5
Either it was me coming back with a new mindset after a long time of not reading lovecraft, or this story SLAPPED. it had all of the stuff i liked, such as the blurring of the lines between reality and dreams, and then the mirroring of situations: red glow from the bottom of pit <-> red glow of dawn. stuff like that. cool story

The Street: 1/5
Okay it was interesting but kinda eh? I liked the progression of ages and the concept of that, but idk it didn’t seem to focus anywhere and it didn’t seem to have much of a point????

The White Ship: 2.5/5
I liked the beautifully haunting imagery, and I liked the description of the different lands, my favourite one being Thalarion. I also liked the idea of Cathuria (which I’m probably overanalyzing bc I don’t think Lovecraft thought this far) but I saw it as the representation of the hope the lighthousekeeper had for his life holding more excitement than it has.

Beyond the Wall of Sleep: 3.5/5 — every time you think the racism might let up it hits you from a whole new different angle with full power. but. it was an interesting story nonetheless.
Memory: 3.5/5 — this feels poetic but in a high school kinda way. like. this sounds like smth i wouldve written at 13/14 yrs old lmaoo. i still like it as that.

A Reminiscence of Dr. Samuel Johnson: 2/5 — lowkey highkey fell asleep while reading this. it was…. Not intriguing
Polaris: 4/5 — racism aside (<- literally all of lovecraft tho) its a really cool story and i love how the perspective of the narrator shifts and how he becomes more and more part of the dream then the reality. my jam.
