Moving at a snail's pace, I finally got beyond the offensive scene that had caused me to dnf last time. I need to harden myself for the second half (I know from looking ahead which characters are going to die, etc.). I really miss the facetious Dunnett of the beginnings... why does she have to torture her characters and her readers so much?
