finally started a reread. i first reread this as a teen and it was a Lot. I love Armand so much in all of his terribleness - because he is. He has always been a menace, even pre-vamp life 🫣 he has suffered, yes, has been treated most unkindly for most of his tender years.

yes on one hand its a creepy story of an orphaned traumatized boy meeting a 1000+ vampire who practically grooms him into a perfect companion/making yourself his godloverfatherfigure(??)... on one other hand Marius is a Tired Man who soon realizes giving Armand a home is a mistake because now he will never ever leave and is now thoroughly convinced you're his god and he wants to match your freak lmao

i love the TV version but i am so concerned theyll just make Marius seem like a complete villain if they ever delve deeper into TvArmand's backstory tbf- because he isn't. all the Chronicles!vampires suck but none of them are a villain to each other imo.

and i will genuinely fight anyone calling marius/armand grooming oBxösxpsndps it is toxic but marius was a mentor, an untouchable Immortal before armand got greedy (and fell in love, as much as a boy like him can fall in love at that time)
