I've been reading Bending Genre and Creative Critic to understand hybrid writing and art writing. Those are more scholarly and better suited when you have a basic understanding. I think this book is WONDERFUL for that basic understanding. It clearly distinguishes the different types of lyric essays, properly organised with names and characteristics. I can't tell you how much that soothes me and gives me clarity.
