Attempting to break out of this months-long reading slump by buddy reading a favorite book by the great Laura Kinsale with my friend Ashley. 🤞🏻

Oh Lord, the angst! And so much more of it to come, no doubt. Nobody creates heart-wrenching emotional situations quite like Laura Kinsale.

There's something delightfully subversive in the fact that for the first 20% of this novel, the hero completely believes the heroine is a young man, not a woman. The whole premise of this book is nuts, in the best, most Kinsalian way. LK is quite simply the best! Where does she come up with this stuff? My hero worship of her is very real.

Buddy reading this with Ashley. My first Laura Kinsale book of 2016! :)
