Sadly, a lot of this is goal- and theory-driven. Our society is not yet at the point where neurotypical and neurodivergent people learn to interact effectively with each other on a daily basis. There is too much bullying, too much stigma, and barriers in medical research and literature. Even the DSM 5 and other diagnostic books are deficit-based.
