“YHWH himself reminded His people that they could not obtain His favor through rituals. Rather, He called them to worship Him from the heart in response to His gracious and lavish promises. Consumed w His love and grace towards them, they could respond by loving what He loved; truth and peace (8:19).It seeks not His good gifts but the Giver Himself. The distinguishing mark of every true believer- Jew or gentile.

“One further observation can be made about this vision-the focus, 3x in one verse, on the HOUSE of the unredeemed sinner. Why did the Lord concentrate so heavily on the sinners house? … additional reflection to ponder. In Zech, the temple is called Gods house. Haggai rebuked the ppl for building their own houses when the house of God was unfinished. One house will remain, the house if the Lord.”
